A deeper look

Take a deeper look at the star of the show, GLaDOS.

GLaDOS is a sarcastic, artificial intelligence computer system that appears in the video games Portal and Portal 2. Portal is a video game series where the player solves puzzles using a portal gun to create portals on surfaces. GLaDOS is the main antagonist of the series. Last year, the Advanced Coding and Robotics ECA group (member list) built a life-sized replica of GLaDOS. The robot was built using a 3D printer and programmed to sustain a conversation with a person. It was featured in the STEM Show last year and was a hit among the audience. Its biggest accomplishment was attending the AI for Good Global Summit at the Ecolint booth.

Members of the ECA Group
Christopher Fieldsend, Alejandro Escámez Lo, Gabriel Bialystok-Joly, Anahita Saidik and Apurva Shrestha.

Plan

Take a look at the plan for this year.

Plan

1

Introduction: Everyone will introduce themselves and talk a little bit about why they joined the club. Then, the club leaders will speak a bit more about Hack Club and what they do.

2

Basics of Programming: Learn the basics of programming in languages such as Python, JavaScript, and more. We do this to give you the confidence to code and build projects with us and on your own.

3

Start Building: We'll start working on GLaDOS, improving the code and the robot itself!

4

Present: We hope to present GLaDOS at the STEM Show this year.
